A piece of heaven...for alcoholics
Finally got down to making my tiramisu!!! Yay!!!
It was almost a year in planning. Haha. Nah, more like a year of procrastination.
Why tiramisu?
1) Non-bake, just like my oreo cheesecake. (My cheese-cake's a rather sloppy individual who doesn't quite gather the meaning of standing straight, like what cheese-cakes should do. Time to rein in on its sloppiness through some punitive measures. Still for being so cheesy, the title of "avant garde cheesecake" was bestowed on it before.)
2) Recipe APPEARS idiot-proof. (It went simply like "Mix egg yolk with sugar. Add in mascapone cheese. Soak lady's fingers in coffee syrup/kahlua. Alternative between layers of lady's fingers and mascapone cheese.) I got it off a webpage touting authenticity for all things Italian and concluded it to be so.
There i was with my sis. Masterpiece in progress.
"You sure you'll need to use so much kahlua?" My sis asked innocently.
"Yeah, of course. The more the merrier. And the recipe says "soak" the lady's fingers with it. Doesn't it?"
One-quart bottle of kahlua gone. Then half. Then almost three-quart.
"Boy. Now i know why tiramisus are so expensive!! It uses so much cheese and kahlua!!" I said.
Done! End result: A mesh of mascapone cheese and lady's fingers swimming in kahlua. Let's just say my tiramisu is even sloppier than my cheesecake. So I resorted to freezing it.
End result: It stood tall and proud.
My first sis loved it. My second sis couldn't take the excessive alcohol. My third sis and bro-in-law almost choked on their first bite. (Yeah, it was really strong). But my bro-in-law chomped down the rest in gusto.
Me? Did i like it? Hmmm...I think i can do a much better one the next time round. But not before i get drunk on this one first.
